From blogs to books. Influencer novels to read this summer.

From blogs to books. Our pick of the Influencer novels to read this summer.

While it is true that social media influencers are dominating the online world at the moment their presence certainly isn’t solely online. The past few years have seen them also take traditional print media by storm. Whether it is their picture on the cover of magazines or their debut novels, they are everywhere!

As the demand for new and exciting products from influencers only grows, it is a natural transition for some of the influencer heavyweights to venture into the publishing world.

Very much aware that the books influencers produce are almost guaranteed a spot on the best-seller list, top publishing houses such as Penguin Books have noticed the gap in the market for publications written by mainstream social media Influencers.

Penguin are the company who bought into the idea behind Zoella’s first novel Girl Online – a smart move as it went on to become the New York Times Best Seller, as well as the fastest selling book of 2014 and smashed the record for the highest first week sales.

Some of the other social media influencers and YouTube stars who have cemented themselves in the publishing world include: Niomi Smart who released her cook book ‘Eat Smart’ in 2016, Tanya Burr who has two books published, Joe Sugg, Marcus Butler, Tyler Oakley and Alfie Deyes.

Such is Zoella’s popularity and influence across a whole host of industries, High Street retailer WH Smith, have gone one step further and brought her on board to create ‘the Zoella & Friends book club’. This new phenomenon sees Zoella select her top picks of novels which she then shares and reviews on her YouTube channel – a channel which reaches over 11 million subscribers! WHSmith then sell these books off in a bundle, tapping into her vast UK audience.

Each influencer has brought something new and fresh to the bookshelves and with summer upon us, there is no better time to enjoy a good book while relaxing by the pool.

Take a look at our pick of the top influencer novels you should be adding to your summer reads…

Wilde Like Me

This heart-warming book is the debut novel from Louise Pentland, formerly known to her YouTube fans as ‘SprinkleofGlitter’ – a name she shed back in 2016 in the pursuit of a more mature audience. This novel reflects this change, the it follows the life of single mum Robin Wilde, tackling adult issues.

A perfect pool-side novel, the book will take you on a journey of self-discovery through the eyes of Louise’s protagonist.

Girl Online 1, 2 & 3

If you haven’t jumped on this craze, then there is no time like the present. Fresh and inspiring, the Girl Online collection is the brainchild of YouTube sensation, Zoella. The first novel, Girl Online, came in 2014 and has been followed by two more hugely successful sequels – Girl Online Going Solo and Girl Online On tour.

Easy to read and perfect for filling the time on the plane, these three books are a must-read.

All That She Can See

Carrie Hope Fletcher is a star of the West End having taken centre stage in hit shows such as Les Misérables. Off stage she is a best-selling author.
